Cooperative? My Arse

Dated: 9th November 2006

In Britain we have this chain of stores called the Co-op. You know the type - they're a corporate suit but pretend to be your "friendly local village store" and all that bollocks. I am blessed with not just one but three of these within easy walking distance of my house. They are spreading across this small country like the plague.

I say plague of course because what they fail to make clear until too late is that you pay about twice as much anywhere else - UNLESS you're a special offer hunter. However this is where things become a little more complicated. You see, in addition to being completely shit the Co-op stores also have a tendancy to be very, very small. So small in fact that half the time they've completely sold out. And I tell ya, there aint nothing more frustrating than seeing a buy one get one free offer on those tasty pizzas you like when there is only actually one left. Likewise with milk - you walk 15 minutes in the rain to get a pint, and all they've got remaining is the 8-litre family-sized option.

However for us in Holmfirth where I live there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon... rumer has it that Tesco may soon be opening a competition branch nearby. I hope so... I'm fed up of being broke.

The Coop site site looks...bland? Generic? Something i could do (with my basic beginners skills)...

See, i love bargains and deals. Especially when it comes to games. I VERY RARELY pay full price.

*By the way, if anyone has heard about http://macheist.com/ i have 3 invites last time i checked. Just e-mail me if you want one...though right now it seems the site is down :P

    **Woohoo, i can count! 10 + 8 = 18! Score!

We have something similar in the states called Whole Foods. These stores are usually gigantic though. The whole "twice as much" pricing sounds about the same though. :)

@Elessar: The coop website is as bad as their own-brand food - bland and often with bits of horse hoof lurking in it. And yeah... everyone loves the new counting game :D

@PJ: There are chains like that everywhere mate - cant be avoided. Still, at Whole Foods sound like they dont sell out every other day !

@Jay: Bet the cooperative group would look good on the dance floor... ;)
